The Nigerian Navy has announced the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise for candidates seeking admission into the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School Batch 39.
The recruitment exercise is scheduled to run from October 2 to October 31, 2026, with eligible applicants required to complete their applications online through the Nigerian Navy's official recruitment portal.
The Navy announced the recruitment in a statement shared on its official X handle on Monday.
Nigerian Navy Recruitment Application Is Free
The Nigerian Navy has warned applicants not to pay money to individuals claiming they can help them secure recruitment.
According to the Navy, the entire recruitment process, including online registration and other stages of the exercise, is free of charge.
“Online registration and other recruitment processes are free of charge and no payment should be made at any point to anyone throughout the Exercise,” the Navy stated.
Applicants are therefore advised to be cautious of agents, intermediaries and individuals requesting money in exchange for recruitment assistance.
Who Can Apply for the Nigerian Navy Recruitment?
The recruitment exercise is open to eligible Nigerian citizens by birth who meet the requirements specified by the Nigerian Navy.
Applicants must have a valid National Identification Number (NIN) and satisfy the required educational, age, physical and medical conditions.
The Navy also stated that applicants must be medically, psychologically and physically fit and must not have any previous criminal conviction.
Nigerian Navy Height Requirement
Applicants must meet the minimum height requirements specified by the Navy.
The minimum height is:
Male applicants: 1.69 metres
Female applicants: 1.65 metres
Candidates who do not meet the required physical standards may be disqualified during the recruitment process.
O'Level Applicants Must Be 18 to 22
For applicants applying with O'Level qualifications, the Navy stated that candidates must be between 18 and 22 years old as of December 31, 2026.
They must also possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings.
The recruitment guideline also contains separate requirements for candidates with qualifications such as OND and NCE, as well as tradesmen, applicants in medical-related professions and sportsmen and women.
Applicants are advised to carefully review the specific requirements applicable to their category before submitting an application.
Documents Successful Applicants Must Print
Candidates who successfully complete the online application will be required to print certain documents.
These include:
Acknowledgement form
Parent or guardian consent form
Local Government attestation form
Guarantor's certification form
Applicants should keep these documents safely and follow the instructions provided by the Nigerian Navy regarding subsequent stages of the recruitment process.
Examination Date and Venue
The Nigerian Navy said the date and venues for the recruitment examination would be communicated to applicants in due course.
Candidates are therefore advised to regularly check the official recruitment platform for updates after completing their applications.
Only One Application Allowed
The Navy also warned applicants against submitting multiple applications.
According to the recruitment guideline, only one valid application is permitted, while multiple online applications will lead to disqualification.
Applicants are also expected to be able to communicate in basic English.
The Navy warned that inability to communicate in basic English could result in disqualification at any stage of the recruitment exercise.
Nigerian Navy Recruitment Opens October 2
The 2026 Nigerian Navy recruitment exercise will officially open on October 2, 2026, and close on October 31, 2026.
Interested candidates should ensure they meet the requirements before applying and should complete their applications within the specified period.
Applicants are also advised to rely on information published through the Nigerian Navy's official recruitment channels and avoid anyone demanding payment for registration, assistance or guaranteed selection.
