The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the full restoration of its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) following a temporary disruption that affected access to the platform.
In a statement issued on Monday, the examination body confirmed that CAPS is now fully operational and urged tertiary institutions to speed up their admission processes ahead of the approved deadlines for the 2026/2027 academic session.
JAMB Urges Schools to Accelerate Admission Processing
JAMB called on institutions to take advantage of the restoration of CAPS to recover time lost during the disruption.
“With CAPS back online, institutions are urged to accelerate their admission processes to recover lost time and meet the agreed admission deadlines,” the board said.
The restoration is expected to allow institutions to continue processing admissions and enable candidates to monitor their admission status through the CAPS platform.
Candidates Asked to Accept Admission Offers
JAMB also advised candidates who receive admission offers to promptly accept their admissions.
Candidates are encouraged to regularly check their JAMB profiles and CAPS to determine whether their institutions have offered them admission.
An admission offer on CAPS should not be ignored, as candidates may need to accept the offer within the required period to complete the admission process.
2026/2027 Admission Deadlines
JAMB also reminded institutions and candidates of the approved deadlines for the 2026/2027 admission exercise.
The deadlines are:
Public universities: October 31, 2026
Private universities: November 30, 2026
Other tertiary institutions: December 31, 2026
Candidates waiting for admission are therefore advised to remain active on their JAMB profiles and school admission portals as institutions continue their admission processes.
NECO Candidates Asked to Upload Results
The restoration of CAPS comes shortly after the release of the 2026 NECO Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results.
JAMB advised candidates who had previously indicated that they were awaiting their O'Level results to upload or verify their credentials promptly.
According to the board, the step is necessary to ensure that candidates' credentials are available for consideration as institutions intensify admission processing.
Candidates whose admission requirements depend on their O'Level results should therefore confirm that their results have been properly uploaded and verified.
Candidates Should Check JAMB CAPS Regularly
With CAPS now operational, candidates waiting for admission are advised to check the platform regularly.
Candidates should also ensure that their personal and academic information is accurate and that any required O'Level result has been properly uploaded.
Those who receive admission offers should follow the instructions provided by JAMB and their respective institutions to complete the admission process.
JAMB Apologises for Temporary Disruption
JAMB acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption and appreciated candidates, institutions and other stakeholders for their patience.
The board urged all stakeholders to use the restored CAPS platform and continue the admission process within the approved timelines.
The restoration is particularly important as institutions move closer to the respective deadlines for concluding the 2026/2027 admission exercise.
Candidates are therefore advised not to wait until the final days before checking their CAPS status, accepting admission offers or resolving outstanding O'Level result issues.
