Prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members preparing for the orientation exercise have been provided with a guide on how to locate orientation camps across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The guide contains directions from major cities, transport parks and junctions to various NYSC orientation camps. Corps members are, however, advised to confirm their camp location and current transportation information before travelling, as routes, fares and transport arrangements may change.
Below is the state-by-state guide.
1. Abia State
From Umuahia, alight at the bus stop gate and take a cab heading towards Ohafia via Igbere. Inform the driver that you are going to Igbere before Abriba. From Igbere, cross to the other side of the road and proceed to the NYSC orientation camp.
2. Anambra State
From Onitsha, proceed to Upper Iweka and board a vehicle heading to Awka. Inform the driver that you are getting down at Amawbia Junction. From Amawbia, take a keke or taxi to the NYSC orientation camp at Umuawulu/Abaukwu.
Those coming from Awka can proceed to UNIZIK Junction, board a vehicle heading towards Onitsha and alight at Amawbia Junction before continuing to the camp.
3. Kano State
Travellers heading to Kano should ask to be dropped at Unguwa Uku, where buses to Karaye are available. Another option is to proceed to Sabon-Gari Park and connect through Bata and Kabuga Park before taking a vehicle to Karaye, where the orientation camp is located.
4. Jigawa State
From Kano, board a bus heading to Dutse and inform the driver that you are going to the NYSC orientation camp at Fanisau. The camp is located opposite an Army barracks.
5. Bauchi State
From the last bus stop in Bauchi, take a taxi to Muda Lawal Park. From there, board a vehicle heading to Wailo, where the NYSC orientation camp is located.
6. Rivers State
Upon arriving in Port Harcourt, alight at Eleme Junction and ask for the loading point for Nonwa or Gokana-bound vehicles. Inform the driver that you are going to the NYSC orientation camp.
7. Oyo State
From Ibadan, proceed to Iwo Road and take a taxi towards Ojoo. Ask to be dropped at Iseyin Park. From there, board a vehicle heading to the NYSC orientation camp.
8. Delta State
Those coming from Lagos, the South-West or Benin can board an Asaba or Onitsha-bound vehicle and alight at Issele-Uku Junction. From the junction, take a bike to the orientation camp.
Travellers coming from the South-East can proceed through Onitsha and Asaba before connecting to Issele-Uku.
9. Adamawa State
From Yola, take a taxi to Vinikilang and connect with a keke heading to the NYSC orientation camp. Travellers can also arrange a direct drop from their arrival park.
10. Katsina State
From Kano, board a vehicle heading to Katsina. From the park in Katsina, take a bike to the NYSC orientation camp along Mani Road.
11. Nasarawa State
From Abuja, board a vehicle to Mararaba and then connect to Keffi. Inform the driver that you are going to the NYSC orientation camp and ask to be dropped at the appropriate point.
12. Cross River State
Travellers should proceed to Calabar and board a vehicle heading to Obubra. Alight at Obubra Junction and take a bike to the NYSC orientation camp.
Those coming from Onitsha can use Upper Iweka to connect to Ikom-bound vehicles and alight at Obubra Junction.
13. Sokoto State
From Sokoto city, take a bike and inform the rider that you are going to Wamakko. The NYSC orientation camp is located along the road.
14. Kaduna State
From Kaduna city, board a vehicle heading towards Chikun Local Government Area and inform the driver that you are going to the NYSC orientation camp along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway.
15. Kogi State
Travellers within Kogi State can board a vehicle heading to Kabba. From the last bus stop, take a bike to the NYSC orientation camp.
16. Osun State
From Osogbo, board a vehicle heading to Ede and connect with a bike to the NYSC orientation camp.
Those travelling from other parts of the country can connect through Osun and alight at Gbogan before taking a vehicle to the camp.
17. Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
From Abuja, proceed to Jabi Park and take a taxi or keke to Wuse Market. From there, board a vehicle heading to Kubwa Village and alight at Kubwa Market. The NYSC orientation camp can then be accessed from the area.
18. Lagos State
From Ikeja, board a vehicle to Iyana Ipaja and ask to be directed to the NYSC orientation camp.
Travellers from Ojota can connect through Oshodi and continue to Iyana Ipaja. Those coming from Oyingbo can travel through Costain, Ojuelegba and Oshodi before connecting to Iyana Ipaja.
19. Ogun State
From Lagos or Abeokuta, board a vehicle heading to Sagamu. From Sagamu, take a bike to the NYSC orientation camp.
20. Imo State
From Owerri, proceed to Ama JK and board a vehicle heading to Nkwerre. Inform the driver that you are going to the NYSC camp at Eziama Obaire, Nkwerre. Alight at Nkume Junction and take a bike to the camp.
21. Enugu State
Travellers arriving in Enugu should proceed to Holy Ghost Park and board a vehicle heading to Awgu. Inform the driver that you are going to the NYSC orientation camp.
Those travelling from the South can board an Enugu-bound vehicle and request to alight at Awgu NYSC Camp.
22. Borno State
From Kano, travellers can connect to Gumel in Jigawa State and proceed to the College of Education, Gumel, where the temporary NYSC orientation camp is located.
23. Yobe State
The NYSC orientation camp is located in Potiskum. Travellers can board a direct vehicle to Potiskum from Kano or other major cities with routes to the town.
24. Gombe State
From Gombe Park, board a vehicle heading directly to the orientation camp. The camp is located at the Science Technical College area along the Gombe-Bauchi Highway, near Gombe International Airport.
25. Akwa Ibom State
From the AKTC Park in Uyo, travellers may find vehicles heading directly to the camp. Alternatively, they can take a keke towards Oron Road and ask for the loading point for Nsit Atai-bound vehicles.
26. Kwara State
From Ilorin, take a bike to Maraba, where vehicles heading towards Yikpata can be found. Inform the driver that you are going to the NYSC orientation camp.
27. Bayelsa State
Travellers should board a vehicle heading towards Yenagoa and alight at Mbiama before entering Bayelsa. From Mbiama, connect to Kaiama and alight at Kaiama Park. A bike can then be taken to the camp.
28. Edo State
From Benin City, board a vehicle heading towards Okada. From Okada, connect with a taxi or bike to the NYSC orientation camp.
29. Taraba State
The NYSC orientation camp in Taraba is located along Sibre Airport Road, Jalingo. Travellers heading to Jalingo can ask to be dropped at the camp gate.
30. Zamfara State
From Kaduna, proceed to Kawo Park and connect to NDA Junction, where vehicles heading to Zamfara can be found. The NYSC orientation camp is located along the road in Tsafe Local Government Area.
31. Benue State
From the last bus stop in Makurdi, cross to the other side of the road around Winners Chapel and board a vehicle heading to Gboko. Alight around the NYSC camp area after the Police College.
32. Plateau State
From Jos, board a vehicle heading to Mangu, where the NYSC orientation camp is located.
33. Ebonyi State
From Abakaliki, board a vehicle heading towards Afikpo and ask to be dropped at the Macgregor Camp junction. From there, take a bike directly to the camp.
34. Kebbi State
From Mando Park in Kaduna, board a vehicle heading to Yauri or Kontagora and connect through Koko. From Koko, take a vehicle directly to the NYSC orientation camp at Dakingari.
35. Niger State
From Minna, proceed to Mobil Filling Station and board a vehicle heading to Paiko, where the NYSC orientation camp is located.
36. Ekiti State
From Ado-Ekiti, board a vehicle heading to Ise-Emure and ask to be dropped at the NYSC orientation camp.
37. Ondo State
From Akure, proceed to Benin Garage and board a vehicle heading to Ikare. From the last bus stop, take a bike to the NYSC orientation camp.
Important Reminder for Prospective Corps Members
Before travelling, prospective corps members should confirm the exact orientation camp address on their NYSC call-up letter and through official NYSC channels. Transport fares, routes and available vehicles can change, so the amounts contained in older guides should not be treated as current prices.
Corps members should also avoid travelling with strangers who claim to be NYSC officials or agents demanding money for registration, posting or camp access.
