Lagos State University (LASU) has announced the commencement of the 2026/2027 Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) student loan application for eligible students of the institution.
The university made the announcement through a statement published on its official X account on Sunday, urging qualified students to take advantage of the Federal Government's student loan intervention.
According to LASU, the application portal opened on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, and eligible students have until Thursday, December 31, 2026, to complete their applications.
LASU Lists Requirements for NELFUND Application
The university said applicants must be duly registered students of Lagos State University and must have valid:
Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration numbers
National Identification Numbers (NIN)
Bank Verification Numbers (BVN)
LASU also advised students to ensure that their institutional records are correctly updated before beginning the application process.
Students are expected to verify that their matriculation numbers, departments and other relevant academic records are correctly uploaded and reflected on the university's portal.
Students Must Verify JAMB Details
LASU particularly advised applicants to ensure that their JAMB information has been properly verified before applying for the NELFUND student loan.
The university warned that discrepancies between students' institutional records and the information submitted through the NELFUND portal could result in delays or possible disqualification.
“Students are strongly advised to verify and update their institutional and JAMB records before proceeding with their applications on the NELFund portal,” the university stated.
The verification process, according to LASU, is intended to prevent problems caused by incorrect information or data mismatches.
Where Students Can Get Help
Students who experience difficulties while verifying or updating their records have been advised to seek assistance from the appropriate university offices.
LASU said affected students can visit the Directorate of ICT or Special Interventions for assistance with verification and updating of their records.
The university encouraged all eligible students who intend to benefit from the student loan scheme to complete their applications before the December 31 deadline.
