NECO released the 2026 SSCE results on Thursday, following the completion of the examination and processing of candidates' results.
According to the examination body, 1,378,048 candidates registered for the examination, while 1,371,992 candidates sat for it.
NECO reported that 804,948 candidates, representing 58.67 percent, obtained at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
The council also disclosed that 1,126,118 candidates, representing 84.70 percent, obtained five credits and above irrespective of whether English language and mathematics were included.
How to Check 2026 NECO SSCE Result Online
Candidates can check their results by following the steps below.
Step 1: Visit the NECO Result Portal
Open a browser on your phone, tablet, or computer and visit the official NECO result-checking portal:
results.neco.gov.ng
Candidates are advised to use the official portal and avoid unofficial websites claiming to provide NECO results.
Step 2: Select the Examination Year
After opening the result portal, select 2026 as the examination year.
You should also select the appropriate examination type, such as SSCE Internal, depending on the examination you participated in.
Step 3: Enter Your Result-Checking Token
Enter your NECO Result Checking Token in the required field.
Candidates who do not have a token can obtain one through the official NECO result portal by following the available payment instructions.
Step 4: Enter Your Registration Number
Enter your NECO examination registration number carefully.
Before proceeding, check the number again to ensure that all the details have been entered correctly.
Step 5: Click “Check Result”
After entering the required information, click on “Check Result.”
If the details provided are correct and the system is available, your 2026 NECO SSCE result should be displayed on the screen.
What to Do If Your NECO Result Does Not Appear
If your result does not appear immediately, do not panic.
First, check that you selected the correct examination year and examination type.
Also confirm that your registration number and result-checking token were entered correctly.
If the portal is experiencing heavy traffic or technical difficulties, wait for a while and try again. A stable internet connection may also be required to load the result successfully.
Candidates should avoid giving their examination details to individuals who claim they can retrieve, upgrade or alter NECO results.
NECO Records Fewer Malpractice Cases
Alongside the release of the 2026 results, NECO disclosed a reduction in examination malpractice cases.
According to the council, 1,496 candidates were involved in examination malpractice in 2026, compared with 3,878 candidates in 2025.
This represents a 64.74 per cent decrease in reported cases.
NECO Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, attributed part of the reduction to the adoption of computer-based examinations.
Important Advice for 2026 NECO Candidates
Candidates should keep a copy or record of their results after checking them, especially if the result will be required for JAMB admission, university or polytechnic screening, scholarship applications, employment or other academic purposes.
Candidates who encounter difficulties should rely on NECO's official channels for assistance rather than paying unauthorised individuals.
