The semi-final line-up for the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 has been finalized following the conclusion of the quarter-final stage.
Egypt, Nigeria, hosts Morocco and Senegal secured the last four spots after a series of fiercely contested quarter-final matches that wrapped up on Saturday night.
In the semi-finals, hosts Morocco will face Nigeria, while Senegal are set to battle Egypt, with both encounters scheduled for Wednesday.
Seven-time champions Egypt claimed the final semi-final berth after a dramatic 3–2 victory over defending champions Côte d’Ivoire, bringing the Elephants’ title defence to an end and setting up a clash with Senegal.
Senegal booked their place earlier with a hard-earned 1–0 win against Mali in a tense West African derby. Iliman Ndiaye’s first-half goal proved decisive as the Teranga Lions showed resilience and composure to hold on.
Morocco continued their title push with a confident 2–0 win over Cameroon in Rabat. Goals from Brahim DÃaz and Ismaël Saibari highlighted the Atlas Lions’ attacking flair and defensive solidity.
Nigeria completed the semi-final quartet with a 2–0 victory over Algeria in Marrakech. Victor Osimhen opened the scoring before Akor Adams sealed the result late on, setting up a mouth-watering showdown with the hosts.
The quarter-final stage underscored the fine margins at this level, with experience, composure and quality proving crucial.
The semi-final matches will take place on Wednesday, while the final is scheduled for January 18 in Rabat.
